The Miracle of Life

October 2016 Presentation:

In my first grade class we will do a unit on different life cycles. I want my students to experience this first hand with the lifecycle of a chicken. I want to not only capture the hatching of the chickens through technology, but also engage my students through the daily progression by helping to monitor the temperature and humidity of the incubator, and make videos explaining the daily changes taking place inside the egg. our videos and pictures will be uploaded to our school webpage. After the chickens have hatched they will be placed in a brooder so children can watch the changes that quickly take place within the next two weeks as they grow, get feathers, change color, and begin to eat and drink. I will have adoption papers for any students and families wishing to adopt one of our baby chicks. Last students will write about the experience and the different stages of the life cycle. These writings will be on display outside the classroom as well as pictures of the experience. The writings will be placed in writing port folios.
