Puppet Pals for Patriots in the Pod
A Collaborative Innovation for Learning Patriot students will use puppets to help them express, communicate, tolerate, and negotiate both print and non-print material presented in ELA class. Along with using puppets to assist with communication and break through barriers, collaborative students will help produce podcasts, after gaining knowledge, skills, and experience as they transition into stronger communicators. Finally, the podcasts will be shared with the school and community, which will boost more interest, collaboration, and confidence for students who are the pilots of the project. In other words, they will “own” something, they will “be somebody”, and they can show personal growth. Patriotivity So often, performing arts programs are slighted when dwindling education funds are dispersed. Students need opportunities and resources to express their creative minds. All students are invited to participate in the Patriotivity Club. The projects completed by students such as poems, drawings, pictures, and computer generated art, will be collected and published in a book. The students will take full lead on their project gaining vital soft skills needed to negotiate the real world.
Can You Hear Me Now?
This grant will give all students including those with special needs the opportunity to be heard more in classes and in other outlets of expressions. We will be using dry erase boards, classroom microphones, drama classes, and production of a student publication entitled Patriotivity. We will be giving students the opportunity to show their thoughts and processes.
