My students were able to take two environmental field trips in our community and practice the skills of science. We visited Bad Branch Falls, an area with a 60 foot falls and pristine water. Students measured water quality with chemical analysis of dissolved oxygen, pH, temperature, and conductivity. Students collected macro invertebrates to determine water quality as well. The second environmental trip was to Pine Mountain Settlement School and students used a dichotomous key to identify skulls of mammals and took a nature hike to observe aspects of a deciduous forest.
