Project Title: Cute as a Button
The students of Arlie Boggs Elementary want to bring the button back and create a sustainable business at the same time! Students will be able to capture current sayings and styles for years to come with this business. Students will use the button making equipment along with standard computers from the school to constantly update and change their products. This will create constant revenue and greatly decrease the need for fundraising in our small and economically struggling community. Students will create the images on the computer, print, cut (using special equipment), and then use the button making machine to create buttons, awards, jewelry, and much more! This project’s success will be based on the revenue created and the decreased need to buy awards from outside sources. We will keep inventory sheets and documentation of sales. We will also track our purchases from outside companies through our school bookkeeper. There will also be improvements made along the way based on customer feedback. Students also plan to reach out to other schools in the area in hopes to sell items to them at events and for fundraising. This will benefit more students than just the students enrolled at our small school! Students will create and sell at local events. Special holiday and event buttons will be made throughout the school year and for many years to come.
