Morgan Kirk – 2016-2017

Morgan Kirk, native of Harlan County, received her B.A. in Sociology from Morehead State University. After working in microsociology for six years in Eastern Kentucky, she settled in Hazard, KY where she became involved with civic and community organizations such as Kiwanis and InVision Hazard. Morgan is employed as a Community Advocate with WellCare Health Plans, Inc. to look at ways to overcome barriers in social determinants of health that lead to disparities in health outcomes. As of March 2016, WellCare serves approximately 439,000 Medicaid members, 8,000 Medicare Advantage plan members and 21,000 Medicare Prescription Drug Plan members in Kentucky. Through her role with WellCare Morgan is a Board member of the Housing Development Alliance, Northfork Local Food which is the governing body of the Perry County Farmers’ Market, and an InVision Hazard steering committee member.
