Melinda Turner – 2016-2017

Melinda Turner is the Senior Manager of School Health and Wellness for the Southeast Dairy Association(SUDIA).  Melinda has been working in this position for 5+ years, following her retirement as a School Superintendent in August 2011.  She has 35+ years of experience in school nutrition program administration and educational leadership.  And she recognizes the impact of a healthy school environment on academic success.

Melinda began her career as a School Nutrition Director, leading her district to implement Kentucky’s first Universal Student Nutrition Program in 1993. She has served as President of the Kentucky School Nutrition Association and President of the American School Nutrition Association.

Melinda’s efforts in building awareness and driving positive changes in school wellness have resulted in recognition by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, Kentucky Action for Healthy Kids, Kentucky Department of Education, KASA, American Association of School Administrators, as well as the Kentucky and the National School Nutrition Associations.

For fun, Melinda loves flower gardening and working in the yard.  She is also an avid football and basketball fan.
