Modern Classroom

From what I know about this grant, I feel that it will provide me with the avenues, the support, the time, and the resources to provide my students with quality and individualized instruction for every minute they are with me. My first priority is to help my students be successful. As a Special Education teacher, I am aware of the challenges my students already face academically, socially, and behaviorally. I want to find ways to service each of my students – all 15, spanning grades K-6 – one-on-one. I’ll utilize every opportunity to do that. I need support and resources just as they do. Your grant would help me do that. I feel that the resources and support I would receive through this grant would allow me to make the most of every minute they are in my classroom. I feel that it would give me the opportunity to effectively provide my students with the strategic instruction they need to fill in learning “gaps,” as well as the time to provide on-level instruction.
As a Special Education teacher, I also promote self-advocacy for my students. They are never too young to take responsibility for their education. My students know what their individual needs are and are aware of their progress towards these goals each week. This grant would allow my students take ownership of their learning. I know this would improve the self-efficacy of my students, many of whom could easily feel defeated when they struggle in the regular classroom setting if not for this web of protection and monitoring to catch frustration and stop it in its tracks.
