Prestonsburg Elementary developed an “On the Prowl” Internet café in the lunchroom. A variety of content delivery sessions, including academic remediation and acceleration, are now available to students before, during, and after school. The grant has given PES the opportunity to open up another area in our building for digital learning. The space has become a hub of support for our digital conversion in the 5th grade, as well as an area to offer tech-supported lessons to classrooms in both small and large settings. Students are able to access the Internet in areas with limited wireless. The improvements of the cafeteria allowed the students to use technology, and the teachers to use the SmartTV to project the lesson. The cafeteria has also
been used to host after school informational parent meetings, Internet safety meetings, and a bullying prevention program. The possibilities are endless with the new space, and the support of digital learning will better prepare our K-4 grades for the digital conversion in the 5th grade.
