Project Title: C.O.P.E. (Creating Opportunities to Prepare for Emergencies)
S.T.A.R.S. Mini Grant Recipient
Because of the recent flooding in our region, the students chose a project focusing on natural disasters. We plan to work with other students in an effort to help them cope with the effects of experiencing a natural disaster. The students plan to conduct informational sessions. They will create pamphlets, PSA’s, and brochures to give information on natural disasters that have affected our area. They also plan to create, publish, and donate bound books on coping with natural disasters. Additionally, team members will meet with community officials, participate in a FEMA for Kids program, and conduct activities to spread their knowledge. The team will work with many outside resources, including librarians, counselors, Emergency Management, and the local electric company.
