Biography

Our project was led by the senior students who had a vision to improve their school while making part of their campus more accessible. Our school has an outdoor area that is very dilapidated and hard to maintain, and basically an eyesore. This group wanted to improve the appearance of our school by using the main entry way as a canvas in which each student has the opportunity to leave their mark. The ARI mini-grant will allow us to finalize the memorial tree, build bird houses for observations in science class, and build concrete planter boxes for additional flowers. The weather has been bad but getting better so we haven’t accomplished as much as we would have liked. We are close to planting the tree and we have ordered plywood to construct the boxes. Once the boxes are
constructed we will order concrete mix to make the boxes as well as a small retaining wall for the memorial area. Within two months we should be finished….
