When 95% isn’t an A…

The driving motive behind my project is closing the gap of what students miss when they are absent. Recently, a study published in the Lexington Herald highlighted Eastern Kentucky with chronic absenteeism. Meaning, more than 60% of Eastern Kentucky students are considered in violation of Kentucky’s truant law.

Each student who steps foot in my classroom is involved with my study. With the grant, I was able to purchase a Swivl device that will actually record the use with the special tracker. After a student has been absent, he or she will be required to watch the previous day(s) lessons to get caught up with their peers. The goal is to eliminate student falling behind due to chronic absenteeism.
