Jamie Sparks has been the Coordinated School Health project director at the KY Department of Education for the past six years. Since 2013, he has served as the state’s co-lead on a CDC federal grant that is administered by the state department for public health. Also in 2013, Sparks was chosen on the inaugural national training cadre with Lets Move Active Schools for the Physical Activity Leader program. In addition, Jamie has served on various roles with the board for the Kentucky Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (KAHPERD) and currently is the President for the state association. Nationally he is on the national board of directors with the American School Health Association, where he serves on both the advocacy and the professional development committees. Jamie is a member of The Society of State Leaders for Health and Physical Education and is their chair for the communication/social media committee.
In his free time, he enjoys being active outdoors and the continuous adventures with his three children: Ross (14), Hannah (10) and Ray (8).
