Virtual Field Trips
How do virtual field trips impact student learning?
To determine if the virtual field trips impact students learning I will first introduce a topic and teach the topic in a traditional manner. I would then assess the students on the information that was taught to them in a normal manner. I will have several questions that are highlighted as questions I will introduce and discuss in the traditional instruction as well as what would be discussed in a virtual field trip. I will then have the students participate in the virtual field trip using the VR headsets. After the field trip, the students will complete a post-field trip assessment that will have the marked questions from the first assessment. I will then compare the data from the two assessments. I will complete this with multiple topics throughout the school year.
The outcome that will help me determine if my innovation has succeeded is that students will have a higher score on the second section of the assessment that ask the same questions after attending the virtual field trip.
