Computers in STEM

October 2016 Presentation:

I will implement an intentional and deliberate study to evaluate the impact of using computers to study STEM. This will impact approximately seventy students. I will have three control groups. The first class of 6th graders will use the current curriculum of science using only hard copies, textbooks and hands-on activities. The next class will use a combination of computers and hands-on activities, and another class will use only the computer with the digital curriculum and computer simulation. I will continue throughout the 2016-2017 school year monitoring the progress of each class. The chromeboxes will be used to access to the Internet and the STEMscopes website in-order to perform the digital activities and computer simulations. I will collaborate closely with my district technology support staff, my instructional assistant, and my team of grade level PLC. After collecting my evidence, I will use it to guide my practices of technology use to continue to promote student learning. I will use my leadership as a Science Distric PLC leader to encourage continued use of effective practices according to the findings. I will communicate the results of my findings with my school and district PLCs as well as share on theholler.org through Promising Practice Holler. I will showcase my results at the Action Research Summit. Additionally, I will create a district STEM Google Group to promote sharing of data and resources.
