Students will learn more than just the science behind the car—force, motion, acceleration—they will also become aware of the economics involved in any invention. The plan is not only for the science to drive the curriculum developed, but also reinforce to students the costs involved, including the efficient use of resources. There are many avenues for this project to be a successful and powerful learning opportunity for students to “think outside the box” and connect their learning to real-life. The area of focus for this project is Energy, Motion, & Economics. The problem of practice will include the design of a car—on a fixed budget– that will travel the longest distance in the shortest amount of time. The plan of action is to develop the curriculum that will support learning science content through the exploration of engineering standards as established by NGSS that allows students to experience creativity, failure, and success
