Project Title: 3D Printing Inventions
Learning Innovations Grant Recipient
Students will be conducting interviews of people in various age groups. They will then be paired with another student to discuss the interviews and find a problem to solve by creating an invention or modifying a product. Once the student pairs create a design, discuss it with their peers and other adults, and it passes standards set by the students as a whole class the product will be printed using the 3D printer. The product will then be tested by students and displayed in an art exhibition.
Project Title: Dawkins Trail Beauty Captured
S.T.A.R.S. Mini Grant Recipient
With the recent creation of the Dawkins Walking/Riding Trail and the movement within the area to draw in tourists to visit our area and the trail, we feel that a photography service focusing on the trail would be an excellent business venture. The most beautiful photos will be printed at Walmart onto canvas and offered to the public for purchase. We will also use our 3d printers to print small frames and stands to place the canvas frames on. Students will take photos, teacher will evaluate products, students will 3d print frames and stands, and teacher will order prints online. Students will also be visited by local photographers and other experienced community members. We will set up a website to sell and also check with two local businesses as possible sell sites. The venture will begin as soon as we have a camera and last as long as we can sell prints.
