Betsy Layne High School for the first time will be offering a Journalism class for the 2018-2019 school year. As part of the Journalism class we will be creating a school newspaper.By providing a school newspaper to those within the school and community, it will help to communicate the fantastic things that are happening at Betsy Layne High School and the district as a whole. It will also allow our students to develop lifelong skills. Students will be actively involved in all aspects of the newspaper, from writing to publishing. Writing is a skill. Editing is a skill. Design and layout are skills. Photography is a skill. A school newspaper can provide the basis to learn these skills, enhance these skills, or refine these skills. Students involved the school newspaper can put into practical application the skills being taught to them in the Journalism class. The money from the grant will be used to buy the supplies necessary to get the newspaper up and running.
