This learning innovation grant will help to achieve my goals as an educator by providing the necessary resources to do so. Though I have many ideas of how I want to incorporate technology in my classroom more to provide flipped instruction and more engaging lessons, I have lacked the physical resources to do so, but also the support of practical application in the classroom. Many times I have started to create student-paced technology lessons, but have become overwhelmed or had too many questions about different platforms that are available. I know that there is more to be learned about platforms that I have used before as well, ways to keep students more engaged and incoporate more into the lessons. I believe this learning innovation grant would also give me the support to begin to incorporate mastery-based grading techniques into my classroom, and then further to my department. I plan, and want to, share all of these strategies with other math instructors who know that something is lacking in their classroom. This shift of instruction is long-needed in the high school mathematics classroom and this learning innovation grant would give me the resources and encouragement needed to be this “change agent.”
