Project Title: Switch Traditional…Go Digital

As technology becomes an ever present expectation of skills in life, students are lacking the necessary abilities to compete in a world where technology is everywhere. As an educator, it not only my duty and passion to teach students mathematics but to also prepare them for a world fully integrated with technology. Over the course of the school year, my students have been submersed into the world of technology as a tool to actively engage them in the learning of mathematics.
Through the use of Schoology, Microsoft OneNote, Screencast-o-matic, and other online tools, students were able to switch from the traditional methods of learning and go digital to create and access notes, assignments, and instructional videos at any time—provided that they had access to reliable internet services. Overall while students are more actively engaged and taking ownership of the learning in and out of the classroom, the hopes of bringing my classroom into a one-to-one learning environment did not work out according to my original plans. Instead I had to modify, adapt, and change my mindset so as to lead my students through a successful school year of learning mathematics in a digital environment.
